กรุงเทพมหานครมีระเบียบกรุงเทพฯ ว่าด้วยการขออนุญาตตัดคันหินทางเท้า ลดระดับคันหินทางเท้าและทำทางเชื่อมในที่สาธารณะ พ.ศ. 2531 โดยสาระสำคัญคือ พื้นที่ทางเข้า-ออกต้องอยู่ระดับเดียวกับทางเท้า แต่การตัดคันหินที่พบเห็นได้โดยทั่วไปมักจะเป็นการลดระดับพื้นที่ทางเข้า-ออกลงมาเสมอผิวทางจราจร ส่งผลให้ทางเท้าไม่เรียบราบในแบบที่ควรจะเป็น 

ดังนั้น กทม.จะเข้มงวดเรื่องทางตัดผ่านโดยเฉพาะทางตัดใหม่ที่ต้องดำเนินให้ตรงตามระเบียบเพื่อให้ความสำคัญกับการเดินเท้า

ในส่วนทางตัดเดิมจะตรวจสอบเก็บข้อมูล ดูองศาเพื่อพิจารณาหาทางปรับปรุงให้เป็นมิตรกับคนสัญจรทางเท้าต่อไป

BMA’s 1988 regulation on permission request to cut stone pavement, to reduce the level of stone pavement and build a connecting path in public places states that the entrance-exit area must be at the same level as the sidewalk. In actual practice, though, many entrance-exit areas are lowered to the level of the road surface; the sidewalks are not as smooth as they should be.

BMA plans to be stricter on crossings, especially new ones which must comply with the regulations in order to give importance to pedestrians.

As for existing crossings, data will be checked and collected. Their slope angles will be examined in order to find improvement guidelines so that they are more friendly to pedestrians.
